Used Boats for Sale

How old of a boat should I buy?

We recommend a boat of 3 to 6 years old. A boat that is newer than three years will cost you disproportionately more, while a boat older than three years had already depreciated a substantial amount. In addition most people don’t sell boat until they are three years or older.

We also feel that most boats last about 10 years without major problems so at the six year mark you’ll still have some years of trouble free operation.

We don’t recommend new since new boats loose so much of their value in the first three years. Used boats are recommended.

Of course a late model boat may not be in your price range and the vast majority of boats that sell are well over six years old. If a new boat is going to develop problems it will most likely have developed them during the first three years.
